A bug's Life

Another busy week with the Elephants!

To compliment our topic 'A Bug's Life', we had some outdoor learning fun this week in the copse. Our outdoor learning sessions are just lovely and the children really enjoyed this treat. The children had great fun leaf hammering and tie-dying, they got muddy in the mud kitchen and built a den, they hunted for bugs and played in the woods and then lit a fire and made hot chocolate and marshmallow smores. Take a look at the pictures below to see what they got up to...looks fun doesn't it!

Literacy focus this week has been to make up their own insect and then write a report on it. They were trying to get some juicy words in to the report...predator, venomous, harmless, nocturnal. Voracious, aggressive, pollination...A great job done!

Maths has been revision of fractions, and they are all getting really good at these. 1/2, 1/3, 1/4. They can also find out 2/4,/3/4, 2, 3 of a number. Marvellous maths this week!

To continue with our science work on plants they went on a flower hunt to find and identify different plants in the local environment. We also learnt about the process of pollination and did a little bit of reading about honeybees. Excellent scientific skills.... Well done Elephants!

We didnt let the rain stop us on Friday for PE....We had a go at some table tennis...harder than it looks!

Of course we had 'Juicy word day' today ...Fab words from everyone! Take a look at the photos and see if you can work out some of the words!
