Let's Celebrate Christmas

Inspired by the Jolly Christmas Postman book, we have played in the post office this week. We wrote cards, delivered parcels, sold stamps and much more. On small world we retold the journey of the Jolly Christmas Postman, as he visits the character's houses.

At the beginning of the week, we worked together to make and paint a class postbox. We have added this to our Post Office. Christmas cards are starting to arrive in class, and we will begin sorting and delivering these this week.

On our creative area we have drawn a self-portrait Christmas stamp. They look great, and we will display them on our Let's Celebrate board this week.

This week the Bears have cut and stuck pictures, then sounded out and written the words to make a list of what they would like for Christmas. Next week we will use our lists to write letters to Santa.

In maths, we have made our own set of subitising cards, then we have used our cards to play games in pairs. We have also used maths resources to show the number 4 in different ways.

On Friday afternoons we always finish our week with the popular pen disco. We roll back the carpet, roll out the paper, then dance, sing and draw to music (adults included). This week we drew stars to Sparkle and Shine. I hope you enjoyed our video that I shared to Tapestry.

It has been a very busy week with lots of preparations for our Nativity performances next week. The children and adults have all worked so hard and I'm sure you will feel very proud of them. Mrs Smyth told them how fantastic they were when she came into the hall for a sneak peek. A reminder that the Bears performance to parents is on Thursday 9th December at 9:30am in the school hall. Only 2 seats are available for each child and unfortunately no siblings allowed.

Monday we have a dress rehearsal, Tuesday we are performing to the children in KS1 and Wednesday to the parents of the Antelopes. All of these performances start at 9:30am. Please ensure your child arrives to school on time as we have two classes to get changed into costumes. Not an easy task I can assure you.

It's going to be a special week!
