Persuasive Posters

We have been learning about Ben Nevis as part of our River topic.

During our topic River Deep Mountain High we learnt about the 3 highest mountains in the UK; Scafell Pike in England, Snowdon in Wales and Ben Nevis in Scotland.

We concentrated on Ben Nevis and spent some time researching using books, PowerPoints and the Internet. Here are some of our facts:

Ben Nevis is 1,345m tall.

There are 2 different routes up the mountain; the Tourist Track is easier and for families and inexperienced climbers and the Càrn Mòr Dearg Arête which is for the more experienced climber as it involves a lot more clambering over rocks.

In Gaelic its name is BEINN NIBHEIS which means venomous mountain.

Ben Nevis was once an active volcano.

Over 150, 000 walkers climb to the summit every year.

There are ruins of an old weather observatory at the top.

This week we have started writing different sections to go in a persuasive advertisement leaflet and have created posters encouraging people to visit Ben Nevis.  Here are several of our posters.
