A visit from Turbo....

Some very busy goings on here in the Elephants class this week...

On Tuesday we had a visit from Turbo the African Land snail. Turbo belongs to Mrs Ward and he came into visit us to help with our literacy. This weeks focus was recount writing and we wanted to write about the visit from Turbo. We looked at what a recount is, the features of a recount (chronological order, using time connectives, writing in the past tense ad using interesting adjectives to make our writing more interesting). The children then planned the recount writing as a whole class and then wrote their own at the end of the week.

Here are a few photos of our lovely Elephants getting up close to Turbo.....

In maths we have been looking at making equal groups/sharing and then we did some work on division on Wednesday. On Thursday we looked at odd and even numbers and then of course we focussed on times tables on Friday and did our rockstars test.

Our foundation subject focus this week has been history and we have looked at sources of evidence and found out which explorers discovered the North and South poles.

We have to give a big shout out to Reggie who has managed to read over 50 books since the start of September and has reached the the top of Rosie the reading caterpillar. He received a book as his special prize and has now started all over again!! Well done Reggie!!
