World Book day

The really important thing about world book day is to get people reading – reading should be fun! It’s been proven that children who read for pleasure are more likely to be successful and happy throughout their lives.

This year, starting on the week of world book day and continuing for 3 weeks, we are challenging children to participate in our sponsored readathon – where children raise money for charity by convincing people to sponsor their reading.  Pupils can choose whatever they want to read - from comics to classics and audio books to blogs - it’s all about reading for fun and creating reading habits. We can even keep track of our whole school minutes at Track My Read Beckers Green. Each child will get their own link to log their minutes.

As well as this, part of the money raised goes towards getting books to children in hospitals, and the school gets a percentage of the total raised too.  You can sponsor the school here at the read for good sponsorship page.
