Mad about science!

We have become scientists this week in the Crocodiles class!

What a busy last week of the half term in the Crocodile's class - our foundation subject has been science and the children have all been so eager and excited to learn - what a pleasure to see!

Our learning this week has been to explore materials further and look at their uses.

We named lots of different materials - glass, rubber, concrete, paper and plastic, and spoke about their properties - why they are good at doing their job. We learn what suitability meant - good at doing it's job and had a focus on using very posh vocab - as always the Crocodiles exceeded this challenge and iI have had some lovely comments about how fantastic the children have been in these lessons when observed - wow!

We investigated and observed materials that could change shape  bend, twist, stretch and squash and forced our own data, discussing the findings, and today we have explored what materials are waterproof. We carried out experiments using foil, tissue, plastic, kitchen roll and fabric, making predictions before the experiments and again, recording our findings when we had completed.

A fantastic half term with my Crocodiles - enjoy the weeks break and see you all on Tuesday 22nd Feb - don't forget to wash your PE kits and bring them back in, thank you.

Stay safe and well,

Miss Hatchman
