GLOCKENSPIELS AND PANCAKES

This half term in our music lessons we have been learning to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the glockenspiel.

As well as learning to play the glockenspeils, Flamingos have also begun to learn where the notes are on a stave and the values of different notes. This has enabled them to be able to start to read the sheet music as they played their instruments. Not an easy skill to develop but they have listened carefully and we definitely have some talented musicians in our class. The children were all keen to either play solos or perform in groups. I enjoyed listening to all of their final performnces.

Today, after an assembly about Lent from Reverand Chand we celebrated Shrove Tuesday with some pancakes whilst enjoying our class story, James and the Giant Peach at the end of the day. The children definitely deserved this treat after working hard since we returned tonschool after Christmas.

We had some interesting discussions about things they are going to give up for Lent! I will look forward to hearing if they have managed to stick to these in the coming weeks.
