a visit from Baloo

We received a visit from Baloo - a three-legged dog, who used to work for the police.

We had a very exciting day as we received a talk from the police service and Baloo's handler.

We learnt that Baloo had two major injuries: her front leg was missing and she had metal plates screwed onto her pelvis. We were reminded that some differences are not able to be seen, so we should treat everyone with the same respect, kindness and empathy. We were also told that Baloo's differences make her special, just like all of ours.

Baloo has not let her injuries slow her down; she is one of the fastest runners around and her acute sense of smell is still helpful when finding misplaced keys!

We were all given the opportunity to pat Baloo and wish her well.
