Our Farm Trip

The Bears visited Boydells Farm on a wet June day. We had a guided tour by Farmer Finn with lots of opportunities for hands-on experiences.

First, we watched Farmer Finn milk Matilda the cow. Then it was our turn to have a try. Farmer Fin talked to us about the different milks that Boydells Farm produces and how they are used. Next, some goat friends, some disinterested donkeys, then more friendly goats and ponies. Onto the pigs as we watched them hungrily eat their cereal mixed with milk. Next, the llamas, who looked like Mrs Jones in the rain. Then as we looked at the chickens and the turkeys, we met a larger lama who loved a selfie. We washed our hands, and it was time for lunch.

After lunch, we watched as Farmer Kiley sheared a sheep. Then, we milk bottle-fed a lamb and cuddled another. The lambs were super cute! Before we headed back to the bus, we held chicks, stroked a grumpy goose and petted guinea pigs and rabbits.

Back at school, we wrote an independent sentence about our trip to the farm. We described what we liked most about the farm and some of us could even write why we liked it. The chicks seem to be a favourite!

The weather did not stop us having a wonderful farm experience.
