We had a wonderful day yesterday when all children were given the opportunity to vote in our first Beckers Green election for our Pupil Parliament.  Miss Finch attended training at Westminster last year in order to be able to establish our own parliament in school.  Yesterday, she held the first elections.  Children were able to nominate themselves to stand and had to produce a poster to explain their policies to classmates.

The elections were held in our very own polling station with private voting booths and voting slips.  Children were taught the importance of a secret ballot and of voting in an election.  This promotes our British values of equality and democracy.  I cannot wait to see how our newly elected House of Commons gets on.
