Pupil Parliament members enjoyed a memorable visit from Braintree MP, James Cleverly, who spent time answering their questions and sharing insights into his role.

  

The children were keen to learn more about his role and asked a variety of thoughtful questions, including:

• What is the best thing about your job?
• Do you have to work every day?
• Who will take over Braintree if you become London Mayor?
• Why do you wear two watches?

Mr Cleverly gave the children a fascinating insight into the workings of Parliament and explained what life is like as an MP. The pupils were particularly interested in learning about debates and voting in the House of Commons. Especially, how MPs are able to call out and make their views heard!

It was not just the children asking questions. Mr Cleverly also took the time to learn more about our Pupil Parliament members. The children spoke confidently and proudly about why they had chosen to take on this important role of responsibility and how they help represent the voices of their classmates.

It was an inspiring visit that encouraged our young leaders to think more deeply about democracy, representation and making a difference in their community. We would like to thank Mr Cleverly for taking the time to visit us and answer our questions.
