Up, Up and away

We have had a brilliant week in Dolphins as we have been discovering what it would have been like to be a pioneer of aviation.

On Tuesday the children made their own hot air balloons just like the Montgolfier brothers in 1783. On Wednesday, we boarded a plane and took to the skies just like the Wright Brothers in 1903 and then on Thursday we put on our astronaut suits and walked on the moon just like Neil Armstrong in 1969.

In English our focus has been to learn lots of facts about the Wright brothers so we can write a biography on their lives. The class has really impressed me with remembering all the dates and names and I am really looking forward to their writing next week.

In RE we had the chance to revisit Judaism and the festival of Purim as the children had really wanted to make Graggers. We decorated the bottles and filled them with rice and danced to music while shaking out Gragger. In PSHE we discussed the different sizes of our problems and how our reaction should match the problem. We used a scale of 1-5. The number 1 being a small problem or a glitch (loosing your pencil) and a 5 a big problem (tree falling on your house). We did have a suggestion that losing the internet was a 5.
