THINKING DAY 2021

World Thinking Day is on 22nd February every year and is celebrated by Girl Guides across the world.

World Thinking Day is celebrated by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in over 150 different countries and as we have some children in our school who are members of guides or scouts I thought it would be interesting to see what Thinking Day is all about.

It is a day of international friendship where children (mainly girls but not excluding boys) think about others across the world and some of the issues that may affect them.

This year the theme was Peacebuilding - to Stand Strong, Stand Up and Stand Together. The idea was to bring together children from all corners of the world together to call for and create peace.

Children were encouraged to explore the issues and actions that lead to conflict, explore the connections between discrimination, exclusion and peace and take actions towards creating a more welcoming and peaceful society.

These are all things that we can consider and think about in school and help to create a welcoming classroom that everyone feels safe and happy.

I hope if you are a member of a girl guiding unit (both my daughters are) that you enjoy celebrating World Thinking Day this week.
