Colchester Castle
Flamingos had a fabulous day at Colchester Castle learning all about the Romans.
The children had an exciting day learning lots of new facts about the Romans. We had a story tour under the castle in the remains of what was the original Roman Temple. We discovered the temple was built to honour Emperor Claudius. They also learnt about being a Roman Soldier and how Boudicca the Iceni Queen burnt down Colchester.
The children had some time to explore the museum, looking at the Roman artefacts, trying out some Roman shields, and playing in a replica of a Celtic roundhouse.
After some lunch and a run in the sunshine, the children got to build a Roman Villa and a Celtic roundhouse before heading back to school.
All the children were extremely well-behaved and hopefully will have improved their knowledge of all things Roman.
