Geography - River Deep, Mountain High

Our Geography this term is River Deep, Mountain High. We have started off by learning about the River Blackwater.

We started off the topic by mind mapping everything we already knew about rivers. Then after a few weeks of learning we added all the extra information we have learnt.

We learnt about the different features of a river and can now name some of these features and where they are found.

We then used these features to describe the journey of a river from source to mouth.

We looked at some of the biggest rivers in the UK and found their sources and mouths. Then we concentrated on our local river (River Blackwater) and researched where it started and finished and identified features such as meanders and tributaries.

This week we have planned our journey to visit the River Blackwater later in the term. We used maps to plot our routes and look at the landmarks we might pass. We had a go at drawing a map with the route we would take.
