CPR training with the Air Ambulance

CPR Smart training

Yesterday teachers received CPR training from the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance training team.  Three of our teachers will then go on to train children in Year 5 and 6 every year in this life saving skill.

This is a national campaign to increase the currently very low survival rate of people experiencing cardiac arrest outside of hospitals.  The idea is that if all children are trained every year from year 5 onwards they will become confident in CPR by the time they reach adulthood.  In other countries in Europe this has been successful.  We have decided that Transition week each year will be a good time to carry out this training.  Luckily the school has CPR dummies and we will look to purchase a training defibrillator.

Children will then get to experience the full CPR practice and hopefully empower them to save lives in the future.  The school would like to thank the Air Ambulance team and will look to fundraise for this amazing charity next year.
